So I just sat through the 1st day of the Zack Arias weekend workshop. I just love how down to earth he is and how he breaks things down so they are easy to understand and digest. This past week I had the chance to shoot some pictures of Cody before he went to a dance at the High School. I have known his mom for years and her daughter is married to one of my best friends. It had been raining all day and about 3 days before that so It was very wet out and a lot of the roads were starting to have water over them. We really didnt have a whole lot of room to work with and was limited on what we could shoot outside since the yard was so soggy, but we still managed to come away with quite a few nice images.... now for the tip.... WHen you are using off camera flash in full manual the aperture will control the flash exposure and the shutter speed will control the ambient exposure. When shooting outside try underexposing the scene by 1 1/2 stops while exposing the subject correctly. This will make your subject pop from the background.
