Some more portraits.....and a photography tip....

This past week I had the chance to shoot some pictures of Cody before he went to a dance at the High School. I have known his mom for years and her daughter is married to one of my best friends. It had been raining all day and about 3 days before that so It was very wet out and a lot of the roads were starting to have water over them. We really didnt have a whole lot of room to work with and was limited on what we could shoot outside since the yard was so soggy, but we still managed to come away with quite a few nice images....

now for the tip....
WHen you are using off camera flash in full manual the aperture will control the flash exposure and the shutter speed will control the ambient exposure. When shooting outside try underexposing the scene by 1 1/2 stops while exposing the subject correctly. This will make your subject pop from the background.
I usually shoot at two shutter speeds when I am shooting outdoors...either I am at 1/60 to get as much ambient light as I can in the shot or I am at 1/250 to kill as much ambient as I can.

📸 **Capturing Moments, Creating Memories: A Year in Reflection** Happy Holidays, dear readers! As 2023 bids us farewell, I find myself pausing to reflect on the incredible journey this year has been. To all our wonderful clients, thank you for entrusting me with your precious moments—it has been an honor capturing the essence of your stories through my lens. Balancing these facets of my life alongside personal endeavors tested my resilience, but I'm proud to say that I faced these challenges head-on, emerging not only as a better person but also as a more refined and evolved photographer. 🌟 **Striking the Balance: Juggling Passion and Responsibility** The delicate balance between personal and professional commitments has been a demanding yet rew...

Its crazy...

I know this is supposed to be my photography blog, but I have been to pre occupied with the loss of my bestest pal to do much shooting. Today I was out in the yard with Bella, our other chihuahua, and the neighbors came out and asked about Charlie.  They were upset that he didn't make it. They told me how he made their day when he was outside and would bark at them.

How much to charge.....

This is something I have been struggling with ever since I decided to start charging for my work. Especially since the area I live in is not one of the wealthiest areas in the state. I recently have been watching Jasmine Star on www.creativelive.com and she gave a lot of insight on how to build up a successful wedding business. She also mentioned a forum she frequented whn she was starting out, www.opensourcephoto.net While I was on that site I discovered a link to "The Greatest Pricing Guide Ever" As the name suggests its a guide to helping you establish your pricing. I haven't read it all the way thru yet, but what I have read of it, its awesome! I highly suggest taking a look at it if you are having problems with your pricing. You can find it here....
